Documentation is required before a material enters a formulation.

Values are recorded during production where the product class requires them.

Where independent testing is required, the result must come from a qualified outside laboratory.

Clearance and certification
Required notification, registration or certification must be held before release.

Manufacture and release
Manufacture proceeds through a qualified facility. Release happens only after the required gates close.

Every release decision should be attributable to a role and a documented review.

Manufacturing
Manufacturing is one controlled stage inside the portfolio system. It turns an approved formulation into a repeatable batch with records that follow it to release.

A batch is defined by the records that follow it from input to release.

Testing
When an outside laboratory is required, the sample leaves our process and returns as a documented result.
Why outside testing
The purpose is distance between the work and the result. We should not be the only party reading our own work.
What is on file, and against what

Per raw material
INCI, Certificate of Analysis and Safety Data Sheet, one set for every material in the formula.

Per formulation
The full ingredient list in descending order, as printed on the pack.

Per batch
The test performed and the date it completed. Never the word tested.

Per product
Notification reference and halal certification, both dated.
Two of the six stages happen where we have no control over the result. That is the point of them.
